What is low vision?
Low vision is often referred to as having partial vision. A person may experience tunnel vision or blind spots, have difficulty distinguishing colors or seeing differences in objects, and experience blurry vision even WITH their glasses or contact lenses. As a result, patients with low vision have trouble reading, cooking, doing close up tasks, or recognizing faces or street signs. Lights may appear dimmer than before and colors are increasingly difficult to match. Low vision usually results from birth defects, trauma to the eye, aging of the eye, or a complication to an eye disease.
